The Smelling Brain - DesignMarch
The Smelling Brain at DesignMarch 2026, Kiosk Grandi, Reykjavík, Iceland.
Exhibition, 2026
Exhibition as part laboratory, part archive, part sensory rehearsal.
Raw natural materials, glass instruments, evolving accords, and experimental perfume compositions form the material language of the exhibition.
As pollution and synthetic saturation dull perception, smell loss emerges not only as a sensory condition but as a cultural one. The project asks: How can we smell, understand, and preserve our emotions before our noses go blind?
Sensory information is treated as biological matter that can be encoded, stored, and reactivated through scent. Liquid becomes archive. Perfume becomes research: a method for reactivating endangered olfactory states while composing new emotional atmospheres.
